Consultation/Upcoming Events

Consultation is an important part of the Class Environmental Assessment process. Consultation provides opportunities for two-way communication between the Project Team and interested stakeholders and enables the identification of potentially significant matters early in the decision-making process.

Effective engagement goes beyond the application of tools and starts with a thoughtful approach that is tailored to this project and its context. Our engagement and consultation program includes a variety of techniques to increase stakeholder awareness and participation, as outlined below.

Notification

Throughout the study, a variety of notification methods (i.e., newspaper advertisements, mail delivery, and this website) will be used to notify interested stakeholders about the study at key project milestones, including commencement, the Public Information Centres (PICs) and the availability of the Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) for the 30-day public review.

Notices will be published in the following local newspapers:

  • Peterborough This Week
  • Kawartha Lakes This Week

The Notice of Study Commencement was issued on October 1, 2020.

The Notice of Online Public Information Centre #1 was issued on January 21, 2021.

Public Information Centres (PICs)

Opportunities for consultation will be provided at key project milestones. The Project Team along with MTO Staff will host two public information sessions during the study.

Due to the on-going global pandemic,  the first of two Public Information Centres (PIC #1) is being held online through the study website. The purpose of PIC #1 is to introduce the study and to provide agencies, Indigenous Communities, interested groups, business representatives and members of the general public with an opportunity to review and comment on the existing conditions, intersection alternatives, and the proposed process for evaluating alternatives.

You are encouraged to view the video below and  provide any comments or questions to the Project Team by March 1, 2021, however you may submit comments at any time during the study. You may submit comments or questions to the project team using the online comment form found here.

Public Information Centre (PIC) #2 will provide an opportunity to present the evaluation of the intersection alternatives and the selection of the preferred plan. Input will also be sought on of the potential environmental impacts and proposed mitigation. While PIC #2 had been originally planned for Fall 2021, the timeline for the next PIC will be determined at a future date given the time needed to research other potential solutions at this location.
